Dr. Willie Lawrence, Cardiologist and Medical Director of Health Equity at Corewell Health, joins the HouseCall Podcast to discuss heart disease, health disparities that exist in heart care and how certain risk factors can be addressed.
“There are disparities in health outcomes, heart disease, stroke and kidney disease,” explains Dr. Lawrence. “Our focus is on eliminating these disparities. In order to do that, we have to impact the risk factors for developing these disparities and that is the focus of the programming that we’re trying to develop.”
Lifestyle issues, access to health care and management of chronic diseases like hypertension are also examined.
